Each year, hundreds of Cirrus aircraft fly in to attend COPA’s largest annual event – Migration, and this year we’ll be gathering at the home of our Cirrus aircraft in Duluth, Minnesota. Attendees can expect educational seminars, an exhibitor’s trade show highlighting aviation products and services, plus lots of socializing with other Cirrus pilots who share their passion for flying the Cirrus!

* Unless you plan on attending our pre-Migration activities! If you’d like to participate in any of our Thursday events, plan to arrive on Wednesday, September 7th. The hotel will honor our group rate for early arrivals.

Registration Options

Adult/main:

Admission to all seminars, the trade show, lunch Friday and Saturday at the trade show, Thursday evening’s COPA Cabana event, a special Friday evening event hosted by Cirrus Aircraft and COPA’s banquet dinner on Saturday evening.

Adult/spouse (or Domestic Partner):

This registration is valid only for a spouse or domestic partner (residing in the same household and registering together using a single payment) accompanying another registrant who is paying the full Adult event fee. Individual is entitled to participate in all activities available to their spouse or domestic partner.

Junior/student (age 16-20):

Valid only for a junior accompanying an adult registrant who is paying the full Adult event fee. Individual is entitled to participate in all activities available to the adult registrant.

Payment & Refunds

Migration Cancellation Protection:

Participants are strongly encouraged to purchase the Optional Cancellation Protection. Experience has shown that cancellations occur for a variety of unforeseen personal, professional, and other reasons. Migration Cancellation Protection is offered for all participants for a fee equal to 17% of the total attendance fee paid.

All registrations cancelled prior to five (5) weeks before Migration will receive a full refund of all Migration registration fees regardless of whether Cancellation Protection has been purchased. Once inside the five (5) week “window” prior to Migration, COPA will be committed to the cost of the facilities, meals, and other related expenses. Only those registrations that have purchased Cancellation Protection will receive a refund.

Migration Cancellation Protection does not include the hotel, which you will book separately and has its own cancellation policy.

Migration Cancellation Policy:

If you cancel or alter your Migration reservation prior to five (5) weeks before Migration, the following shall apply:

  • If Migration Cancellation Protection has been purchased, it is nonrefundable.
  • If the participant cancels the entire reservation, the M14 registration fee shall be refunded in full.
  • If the participant reduces the reservation (e.g., your spouse/partner/junior cannot attend), that portion of your registration fee shall be refunded in full.
  • Cancellation of any hotel, car will be the sole responsibility of the participant.

If you cancel or alter your Migration reservation within five (5) weeks of Migration, the following shall apply:

  • If Migration Cancellation Protection has been purchased, it is nonrefundable.
  • If the participant cancels the entire reservation and has purchased Cancellation Protection, the M14 registration fee shall be refunded in full.
  • If the participant reduces the reservation and has purchased Cancellation Protection, that portion of your registration fee shall be refunded in full.
  • If the participant reduces or cancels the reservation and has not purchased Cancellation Protection, there will be no refund.
  • Cancellation of any hotel or car will be the sole responsibility of the participant.

Summary

Historically, Migration’s seminars have always been one of our fly-in’s major attractions and this year should be no different. The trade show will be adjacent to the seminar rooms again this year, so attendees can visit before and after the various seminars. Migration lunches, as well as all beverages and snacks, will also be located by the trade show area again. So, whether you are getting a coffee during a break between seminars or have just enjoyed a tasty lunch, you’ll have an opportunity to review some of the best aviation products and services in the business.



The seminars and trade show will be held at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) and run Friday and Saturday of Migration. Available soon will be the electronic guidebook, introduced last year, which you can download to your smart phone or tablet for all of the details.

Seminars and Speakers

Friday morning starts off with our annual COPA membership meeting and will be followed by Safety Review and COPA University updates from Rick Beach and Trip Taylor. After lunch, our seminar programs begin. In order to provide attendees with the greatest number of choices within the time available, we’ll be running two, simultaneous seminar sequences, as in years past.


Each seminar is an hour long, separated at 15-minute intervals – plenty of time to grab a drink or take that much needed bathroom break. The Migration Planning Team always endeavors to provide interesting topics for both new Cirrus pilots as well as long-time owners. This year, some of the seminar subjects include avionics upgrades and ADS-B solutions, aircraft interior and exterior cosmetic enhancements, maintenance upgrade options, a special briefing on high-altitude pilot physiology, “tips and tricks” for new owners, and special presentations by Cirrus Aircraft. If you (or your spouse) tires of the more technical subjects, we have an entire “thread” highlighting great trips you can take in your Cirrus! These informal presentations, accompanied by tons of photos, will be presented by your fellow COPA members … who have actually flown to the destinations they will be highlighting. If you’d like to find out how and where you can take your next adventure in your Cirrus, you will definitely want to attend these travelogues. For non-pilot partners, the always popular Partner-In-Command class, taught by COPA’s President Emeritus Mike Radomsky, will again be offered on Friday morning. This class is designed to make our right-seat partners better acquainted and more comfortable with the aircraft. This year attendees will have the opportunity to fly and pull the chute in a simulator during the afternoon.

Trade Show and Exhibition

The Migration trade show will run from 10:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, September 9th, and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, September 10th at the DECC. This is a great opportunity to learn about new products and discuss your aircraft systems directly with representatives of the manufacturers. With some of the “show specials” traditionally offered during Migration, you may want to play hooky from a seminar and peruse the product offerings in relative peace and quiet. With the opportunity to see the “latest and greatest” aviation products conveniently displayed in one location, the trade show is something you won’t want to miss! Last year, over 50 exhibitors attended Migration to promote their products and services.
