The COPA Migration is an annual fly-in event with as many as 500 in attendance and close to 200 airplanes. It is COPA's biggest event and although primarily social, it includes the annual meeting, education seminars, and a trade show. The event was initially conducted only in Duluth, site of the Cirrus factory, but now has been held in cities such as Dayton, OH, Colorado Springs, CO, Mobile, AL, Las Vegas, NV and Dallas, TX as well as Duluth,MN. The European Migrations are purely social and have been conducted in great locations throughout Europe.
A typical Migration, starts Thursday evening with the "COPA Cabana" a reception with cocktails and heavy horsd'oeuvres, Friday, starts with the annual meeting and report on COPA safety. After lunch seminars and the trade show starts, in the evening there is a reception and dinner. Saturday seminars and the trade show continues, with the Gala reception and dinner, usually with a guest speaker and/or entertainment ending the day. Sunday, participants fly home. During the Migration at breakfast, lunch, breaks and while participating in all activities you have an opportunity to meet and get to know other members. There are programs for the spouses both Friday and Saturday. Tours are included at most Migrations, Examples are, Duluth-Cirrus Factory, Las Vegas-Red Bull Air Race, Mobile-Naval Air Station Pensacola Blue Angles and Navy Museum, Dayton-USAF and Wright Brothers Museum, Colorado Springs-Pikes Peak.
The Migration Trade Show gives members the opportunity to talk directly to senior people of all the key vendors, such as Cirrus, Avidyne, Garmin, Continental as well usually close to 40 other suppliers or potential suppliers. The Migration Seminars cover a broad spectrum of Cirrus flying subjects.
