Update: please read the original first post << a link from 2011, now updated in 2020.
We have just found recently in 2020 another small supply of this exact same Philips XenDrive (TM) XLD924 Standard 24/28 VDC (35W) HID landing Light ballast. Philips Labeling only !! See 1st Photo below.
The ballasts are brand new NEVER USED, New "old stock" with a 1 YEAR replacement XeVision warranty.
These ballasts were recently discovered "lost" in a Philips Lighting warehouse, poor inventory management (10 years) I would say. Their loss can be your gain since we now have them in our stock.
This ballast was used in the round landing lamp SR20's and the rectangular lamp SR22's that have an HID landing light, up until about 2015 when Cirrus switched over to a lower performance LED.
This ballast ( "Boom Beam (TM)" ) was also sold by Lopresti for many aircraft make and model applications, not only Cirrus aircraft, but with a Lopresti label ( see 2nd photo below).
Note: we only have the 24/28 Volt XLD924 versions, no 12/14 VDC XLD912

This could be purchased as a spare IF it's the same as what is OEM installed in your plane.
Its only an upgrade if you have the newer LED version landing light that are maybe 6 years old or less and have an LED light that's great for taxiing but not very adequate as a landing light.
From the beginning of SR20's and SR22's HID landing lights (using this EXACT Ballast) were factory stock until Cirrus switched over to the LED rectangular units in the early to mid 2010's.
I believe Cirrus also used another ballast for a short time in the ~2009-2012 or so window. If correct for a short time it would have been an Osram ballast for just a couple to a few years.
We also have a plug and play replacement for the Osram version ballast as well. It is available in both 12/14 or 24/28 VDC as well as 35 or 50 watt versions (50 watt = 65% more light output). These are actual watts going to the bulb not ballast input watts as some aviation brands (some use Chinese made ballasts) are using to inflate their performance Power numbers to say 65 or 85 watts. While actually providing about 50 watts to the bulb and about 70 watts respectively. Note: we also make 75 watt output ballasts
For our XV4D series, the input ballast watts are 40 watts for 35 watt output and 56 watts input for 50 watts output. These ballasts are >90% efficient, most ballasts are only about 85% efficient, thus generating more ballast electronics heat than the XV4D series.
Note Lopresti wants about $300 for the exact same Philips HID bulb we sell for $150.00
Photo 1 below.Older style (version) Philips D1S bulb on the left, newer style (version) Philips D1S bulb on the right. The newer style DIRECTLY (with no issues) replaces the older generation bulbs. We can provide a Certificate of Conformity ( C of C ), That it's an authentic Philips bulb, not a Chinese Counterfeit (lots of that crap out there everywhere, buyer beware).
Photo 2 (see below) of the Osram version style (Our XV4D 35W is a XeVision proprietary ballast that is a direct (Osram/Siemens) replacement (same footprint connectors and mounting tabs). Osram P/N 35 XT5-2-D1/12V or /24V
We can also offer many different types of HID bulbs, ballasts, cables, cable parts and premium quality reflectors for any of these mentioned products above, even some others. www.xevision.com (801) 622-7000 ALSO LED pilot flashlights.
