Brian, Sure, lots of us have those phones. Just did a quick eBay search and saw some new ones at 1395. I think more important than price of the phones is accessories and the real biggie, service contracts. Sometimes they come with a few minutes included so figuring out the real price takes some thinking...

In Europe, it works around 30 minutes per hour, so although it's not perfect, you would have a satellite available at least every 15 mins, on average.
