However, driven by a curious colloid of "worrying a painful tooth" and "watch him approach a s/n ratio of zero (again!)" motivations, I enjoyed the interaction.

In the heat of the most rousing political season in memory, not having that COPA mudpit to dip into occasionally has proven more difficult than I expected. This struck me right between my eyes today as I found myself watching yet another clip from The View! Pretty sad, huh?

Progress comes in dribs and drabs

Thanks to fellow COPAn Jerry Bock's invitation to attend the Monterey Jazz Festival, I got my wife to fly the 30 minute PAO-MRY route (and back) without a copilot in the right seat of the Cirrus. (She had, many years ago, flown with only one pilot, but that was in a C182. And we've flown together multiple times with Luke Lysen in the right seat.)

Not clear if this development signifies a great deal; she's unlikely to suggest that we fly together to M7 (unless, of course, M7 is moved Monterey). But it's the first time we have flown together as a matter of course, as opposed to a "let's see whether it works" experiment.

Oh, and though we started out VFR, I decided to shoot the Loc into MRY through an overcast. So it's also the first time my wife has ever flown IFR in a small plane.

Life gets more exciting with each passing day...
