How large is the extra fuel tank has to be for such a long ferry flight? It AvGas availability is an issue along the way?

James:  There were two extra fuel tanks, one where the front right seat would've been and one where the back seats were.  All total, they held about 150 gallons of extra fuel.

AvGas availability IS a pretty big issue along the way, and Luke and Chase had to bypass the Christmas Islands since they didn't have the stuff.  This resulted them in making the longest leg of the flight: Hawaii to Pango Pango in about 15 hours.

When we go next time, we're going to see how hard it would be to get some gas over to Christmas Islands.  15 hours in an airplane is a pretty long haul, and doing it 3 times in a row is tough.

John,

Thanks for the info. It is very useful. I ordered a SR22 GTS TURBO and it will be delivered on the 27th of Sep. I do not have any license to fly any plane yet so that I will start my training next Tuesday on a SR20 and try to get my self to be able to fly solo in 3-4 weeks. I may take the plane to Europe or Asia for fun once I am capable of doing so.

Luke and Chase are a pair of lucky bums who fly airplanes around the world. They got my SR20 to Morocco, where i enjoy it all over southern europe, and soon to western Africa.

cheers guys!!

Hey guys,

I've owned my Cirrus since 08, and have taken several different singles and twins to South America(Brazil). If  you  need company or need a plane relocated to the Caribbean or South America let me know!
