Great trip! For those less "adventuresome", I suggest flying into Sitka, then having bush pilot Kevin pick you up in his float plane for some great sightseeing and fishing in Port Alexander. We've been doing it for 7 years - lots of salmon and halibut to bring (or ship) home, lots of bears, whales, and gorgeous scenery from the air. Website: www.fishermensinn.com.

The trip was great. On a two week trip to Alaska, one day delay is much better than I expected. The distances are great and the weather makers are many so part of the adventure is dealing with the weather.

Gil: Gee, it sounds like you can take tons of time plannign for a trip like this only to have the weather get in the way of a good chunk of it. too bad something as simple as Mother nature's whim can make the difference between a trip with hassles and one to be memorable.
